If you are looking to add a hitch to your Ascent, Crosstrek, Forester or Outback, Subaru of America recommends using a Class 1 trailer hitch. The only exceptions would be for the Ascent Premium, Limited or Touring models as it would then be recommended to have a Class 3 trailer hitch along with the 2020-2022 Outback which is recommended to use a Class 2 hitch.
